A little late with the results folks but the day job took over so here is an overview of NTW road race 2.
What an evening for club racing on Thursday, perfect conditions and yes finally the sun shone for us and it was great. We had a super turnout for our race and we also welcomed riders from Portumna CC and O’Leary Stone Kanturk on the evening. Spirits were high as four groups formed on the road all rearing to go. Each group had specific time gaps depending on their ability. This week’s route was Lower Clashnevin, Toomevara, Moneygall, Cloughjordan and finish Just before the N7 at Ranahleen south on the main Cloughjordan road, 35km.
Group four had a good start and they were working very well together pulling out a good lead. It wouldn’t be until the final road to the finish that groups 2 and 3 merged and group 1 not far behind. Group 4 managed for a second week running to keep away with Luke Donnelly taking a great win in a sprint to the finish and with it gains promotion to group 3 where we think he’ll go from strength to strength, leaving Sean O’Neill to take a fine fought second with Rob barely taking third spot on the podium in another big sprint to the line against Peter… A fantastic nights racing by all and well done to everyone who came along and raced it was great to see you all back out again. Thanks as always to our helpers on the night we really appreciate it. Thanks to Jan for timekeeping, Owen, Martin, Conor and thanks to Selina for the video & photos of the evening…
