We hope you all had a lovely weekend and that you are enjoying this great weather. Summer has finally arrived!!

We want to thank everyone who turned up to the Mizen to Malin meeting last Monday evening. Please get the balance owed for the trip to Jan by Sun July 17th. We will have another final meeting before the event on Monday 18th July in the Dapp Inn at 8pm where the balance can be paid if you can’t get it to Jan by the 17th.

Thursday evening we had Road Race No.6 in the road race series. The lookout trophy with a twist… The usual route was completely revamped this year with the race actually finishing at the Lookout for a change, but there was just the small matter of Coum and Portroe to get past first!!

Young Joseph Donnelly rode very strongly on the evening coming in right on the wheels of Pat Bergin and Liam callaghan who pipped him to the line but it was Eoin Woods who had created a fine gap from the rest to take the win on the night so a huge well done Eoin! Martin Quigley also had another very strong ride was very close to Joseph jnr at the finish. John Foote, Nanno Vuyk, Noel Kennedy and Joey all finished not far behind. Roger unfortunately missed the turn for Coum and decided to call it a night.

Thanks to Jan for timekeeping and to Conor and John O’Carroll for marshaling on the night.

On Saturday we had a M2M training session and the lads got in a really good 100km training session in the lovely sunshine.

Meanwhile we had members head off to far flung corners of the country to take in some of the bigger early season sportives and were graced with some fantastic scenery in two really well run events, the Skoda “Tour De Conamara” and the Ring of Beara cycle in Kenmare. Both events have long been sold out and from the reports it is easy to see why! As always the weather makes these days away and you couldn’t have asked for better so both events were thoroughly enjoyed with some of the best scenery the Wild Atlantic Way had to offer!

On Sunday we had another good turnout including some of our friends from Lower Ormond that are training with us for the M2M. It was another fantastic day once the early fog burnt off. We all even got to work on our tans while we waited for Rob to mend his punctured new tyre… (weekly mech tip… when you go to align the tyre because the mechanic hasn’t aligned the writing on the tyre to the valve, make sure you don’t pinch the tube putting it back on!!) 😂 We’ve all done it!! All in all, a really great mornings training and some good back to back training put into the bank.

Open Racing

Also on Sunday we had 2 members who travelled to Clonmel to take part in the 3 stage/one day event, Eoin Woods and John Foote. Eoin’s objective was to get some race time back into the legs after a few weeks absence from the scene and went well on each of the stages. Unfortunately John touched wheels with another rider that pulled across in front of him during the road race and came down hard suffering quite bad road rash but showed some serious toughness to get back on the bike and finish out the stage! We wish you a speedy recovery John…
