We are loving that the fine weather is finally here, it really lifts the spirits. We hope you all had a good week. This weeks notes are mostly summed up in photographs so they are short and sweet. So this is what happened during the week…:
Tuesday club spin
Tuesday there was 14 riders out on what was a beautiful evening for a spin where the group cycled a nice lumpy route taking in Moneygall, Army Hill, Gortagarry, Borrisoleigh, and after a bit of not so gentle persuasion everyone turned left up to Templederry, and down into Dolla and home to Nenagh. 63km in total. Well done everyone.
Thursday club racing
Another great evenings racing with our riders taking on an out and back course from lower Clashnevin to Roscrea and back, a nice 50km route. We were very lucky with the weather on the evening which always makes the racing more enjoyable. It came down to a sprint between Eoin and Edvins for the win but it was to be Eoin Woods who would take the top spot of the podium on the night. Very well done Eoin and a special mention also for Dermot Kelly who ended up putting in a mighty long solo effort to hold off all the rest of the chasing groups and hang on for 3rd place and collect the last of the podium points on the night. Well done to everyone who came out to take part in the race and support it and thanks to Selina, Conor, Stephen and Vic for helping out on the night and you can see the great photos taken by Vic in the link here.
Open racing in Galway
Claire Ní Reachtagáin for the last 8 weeks has been taking part in the Galway Bay CC spring league where she held on to the yellow jersey to win the league with her best 6 races counting. The races alternated between a flat 46km course and hilly 34km course each week. It came down to the last race to decide the winner on the evening and Claire pipped Michelle McKinney from Galway Bay CC to the podium who took a very close second, only 1 point behind Claire! Well done Claire, super stuff out of you.
Tour De Conamara 2018. NTW on tour
What a great weekend over in beautiful Connemara with a great bunch of friends. This time around the majority of the group decided to stay in Co. Galway the night before the big event so as to make sure they were good and fresh for the big cycle ahead. They all met in the courtyard of the Station House Hotel in Clifden at 9am and got a chance to get some photos and have a good chat before the off. The weather gods were with them for sure with the sun shining all day, absolutely perfect conditions. They even came upon a wedding party and thanks to the bride and groom for being such good sports and posing for a photo with them. The group rode the tour together for the day really enjoying the atmosphere and were enjoying it so much decided to extend it a little bit! A big sense of achievement by all at the end of the day. There are some fantastic pics by our members who were at the tour in the gallery below and looks like you had a brilliant time. Very well done to you all, great to see the club colours out in force at this big tour.
Clonmel GP 2018
We had two members, Daniel Ronan and Michael Crowe take the trip over to Clonmel on Sunday to take part in the ever testing Clonmel GP. Both of the lads finished out the two stages strong and enjoyed the racing. Very well done lads.
